Real Steel Real Steel is a title of an upcoming Shawn Levy's futuristic sci-fi tale set to hit theaters on November 18th 2011. So, we know that it's the story of a father and his estranged 11-year-old son who enter the world of robotic boxing, and that the movie has pretty interesting cast: Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Kevin Durand, Anthony Mackie and Evangeline Lilly. But today we are here to announce that Hope Davis, James Rebhorn and Olga Fonda are joining the project as well. Shawn Levy has described the story as “rousing sports movie.” He is directing Real Steel from a screenplay by John Gatins, who adapted from the original story by Richard Matheson. Matheson's tale became an original Twilight Zone episode that starred Lee Marvin. In the modern update, Jackman will play an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent. The new gladiators are 2,000-pound robots with human qualities. The ex-fighter's access to sub-standard robot parts hampers his hopes for glory in Robot Boxing, until he discovers a discarded robot that always seems to win. The ex-fighter has also discovered he's the father of 11-year old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top.” So, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn and Olga Fonda are all joining the project, but there's still no word on what roles they will play. On the other hand, we know that Hugh Jackman will play an ex-fighter who has “to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots”. Dakota Goyo plays the lead role, Max, described as “a street-smart, tough, charming kid with a hard, untrusting outer shell which hides a warm enthusiastic spirit beneath.” Kevin Durand co-stars as a Texan promoter of robot boxing, Anthony Mackie will play a boxing promoter while Evangeline Lilly will portray a friend of Jackman's character. Sci-fi film from DreamWorks will begin shooting later this month, and as we mentioned at the beginning, the movie is set to hit theaters on November 2011. We'll keep an eye on this interesting project, so make sure you stay tuned!
