J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 Has Been Retitled Darlings ?

Jeffrey Jacob Abrams, commonly, J.J. Abrams, is one of the creators and executive producers of the epic TV Show Lost. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline on the island, as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. Abrams’ involvement in the creation of Lost was revealed in full detail in the special feature The Genesis of Lost .

J.J. Abrams, Super 8

Writer-director J.J. Abrams has so far done an impressive job of keeping his new Spielberg-inspired sci-fi movie, Super 8, hidden away. Abrams filmed the first teaser trailer that debuted in theaters before Iron Man 2. The sci-fi thriller takes place in 1979 after The U.S. Air Force closed a section of AREA 51 and involves the arrival of an undocumented species that has escaped from a secure facility in Ohio — captured on film by amateurs. Production budget is between $45 million and $50 million. What appears to be a Paramount Pictures production image of a gushing monster has appeared online and many are claiming that it is the aforementioned bodily form in Super 8. Supporting this theory is the sign at the bottom right, which reads: “Working Title—Instamatic.” Inexpensive Instamatic cameras were made by Kodak starting in the ’60s and the name was also attributed to certain Super 8 cameras… Now, there’s a new Brazilian trailer released for J.J. Abrams new sci-fi film Super 8, only in this trailer the movie isn’t called Super 8, it’s called… Darlings?! Guess this could just be the international title for the film (Brazilians do not recognize “super 8mm”). Or perhaps Super 8 and Darlings are just both working titles for the movie, and the actual title has yet to be announced. Explained as being the “anti-Avatar,” and as a “tribute to” Spielberg movies of the ’70s Super 8 is currently in post-production. The cast includes Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso and Mills. The film is set to open up in theaters on June 10th, 2011. The teaser trailer below is the exact same trailer we’ve already seen; only it has the new title.
