Joseph Gordon Levitt and
Paul Rudd are reportedly the two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in
Edgar Wright's adaptation of
Ant-Man for Marvel Studios.
After years of development, the comic book studio is getting the pieces of their
Phase Three title. Two frontrunners listed to play the lesser known superhero are currently the top contenders, but another actor may be considered.
Rudd is known mainly as a comedic actor and this would be the first time that he has been attached to a superhero project. This might lend credence to suggestions that Ant-Man will take its stakes a bit less seriously than previous Marvel movies.
Gordon-Levitt isn't a surprising choice since he has starred in
The Dark Knight Rises, will soon be seen in
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and was at one point rumored to be up for the role of Star-Lord in
Guardians of the Galaxy.
However, it sounds like it's more or less a done deal that one of these guys will wear the antennae. The two are reportedly contending for the role of Hank Pym, who in the comics was a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that gave him the ability to shrink in size at his will.
Disney releases
Ant-Man on July 31st, 2015 so expect to hear a decision shortly.
