Hey Judge Dredd fans out there! We finally have something fresh and new to share with you!
This time, we’re here to update our previous reports, because the upcoming adaptation of the British sci-fi comic series now has a new title, Dredd, and here is the official synopsis especially for you:
“Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary.
The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”
The upcoming Pete Travis‘ movie already stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd and Olivia Thirlby as Judge Cassandra Anderson, “a telepathic rookie who shadows Dredd.”
Alex Garland wrote the script, and the budget has been set at $45 million.
Dredd will start filming in South Africa later this year, and we can all expect to see the new Judge Dredd in 2012.
