Kelly Marcel to Adapt FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Fiona October 9, 2012 Add a Comment
Fifty Shades of Grey All eyes on Fifty Shades of Grey! Logical thing, especially after all those rumors about who will have an honor to portray the leading roles, but more about that in the rest of this report. Let us first inform you that Kelly Marcel is officially on board to pen the feature adaptation for Universal and Focus Features. Just in case you're not so familiar with Marcel's work, here's a little hint: she stands behind the 2011 Black List script Saving Mr. Banks. And now, she's responsible for the highly anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, the film based on E L James' #1 Bestselling book of the same name. Sounds good. And now, a few words about that cast. I'm sure you all know that the Fifty Shades of Grey story centers on the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. Who will come on board to play them? So far, we had a chance to hear that Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgard and Ian Somerhalder are all in contention for Mr. Grey role. On the other hand, Emma Watson, Ashley Greene and Anna Kendrick are all of the sudden all attached to that Anastasia Steele character. And let me also add one fresh update: Mila Kunis is also on the shortlist of potential Anastasias. Until something official comes, let me also say that Universal Pictures and Focus Features acquired the rights to the three books in the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy in March of this year. Focus Features will market and distribute the first film in partnership with Universal. Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will produce the film alongside its author James. So, who would you like to see in this adaptation? Let us know, and make sure you stay tuned for more!
