John Patus, but the movie is actually based on the novel series of same name, written by

Left Behind reboot will follow a group of survivors during the first few hours after millions of people around the globe simply vanish without warning.
In other words,
Nicolas Cage stars as pilot Rayford Steele, while
Chad Michael Murray plays journalist Buck Williams – they lead a group of survivors after thousands of people mysteriously disappear worldwide in an event called
The Rapture.
