I mean, the apocalypse, mysterious and unexplained disappearances, chaos, destruction – that always sounds good, right? Especially when Nicolas Cage is on board. Armstrong directs the whole thing from a script written by Paul LaLonde and John Patus, but the movie is actually based on the novel series of same name, written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.
The Left Behind reboot will follow a group of survivors during the first few hours after millions of people around the globe simply vanish without warning.
In other words, Nicolas Cage stars as pilot Rayford Steele, while Chad Michael Murray plays journalist Buck Williams – they lead a group of survivors after thousands of people mysteriously disappear worldwide in an event called The Rapture.

Without warning, millions of people around the globe simply vanish. All that remains are their clothes and belongings … and an overwhelming sense of terror. The vanishings cause unmanned vehicles to crash and burn. Emergency forces everywhere are devastated. Gridlock, riots and looting overrun the cities. And there is no one to help or provide answers.
