Michael Bay and Taylor Lautner have joined forces to take on a ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith'(2005) meets ‘Wanted'(2008) style action film .
Here's some interesting info: Deadline is reporting that Michael Bay will be lifting Lautner to start 2012 with a bang. Bay and his Platinum Dunes production have seemingly been contacting Lautner pretty aggressively, and it looks like a Bay/Lautner team-up is officially ahead of us. They sent out the script for auction to all the major studios and studios immediately have begun bidding on this project.
What will the movie be like? The Majors are not any details on what the film is about, but one of Deadline‘s sources states it's ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith' meets ‘Wanted' (Who said Angelina Jolie?!) For this purpose Bay and Lautner specially selected Jason Hall – a scriber with Ashton Kutcher/Anne Heche comedy Spread credit. Due to films both aforementioned perhaps assassins are one of the story elements.
Lautner entered the list of top paid teenage actors, but also entered the top paid adult list as well. 2011 is already a full year for him with completing the Twilight series, but he's also got thriller Abduction,co-producing and starring sci-fi Incarceron, and untitled spy film set up at New Regency and Stretch Armstrong ( $7.5 million pay day). With enormous Twi-hard fan base and aggressive promotion of his films it looks like Lautner's going to be wrapped up in 2011.
Nevertheless, Lautner has the potential to be an A-list star and starring a Michael Bay movie definitely isn't going to harm his career.
Bay's next film will be Transformers: Dark of the Moon which hits theaters on July 1, 2011. I Am Number Four (Platinum Dunes) opens this weekend and Lautner can next be seen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Pt. 1 which premieres on November 18, 2011.
