Dying For Sex

What would you do if life handed you a terminal diagnosis? For Molly Kochan, the answer was simple: live unapologetically. FX and Hulu's upcoming series Dying For Sex takes this raw, real-life story and transforms it into a comedy that's as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. With Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate leading the charge, this series promises to be a bold exploration of love, sexuality, and the human spirit.

Inspired by the Wondery podcast of the same name, Dying For Sex tells the story of Molly Kochan, a woman diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer who decides to leave her husband of 15 years and embark on a journey of sexual self-discovery. It's a premise that could easily veer into melodrama, but the series, created by Elizabeth Meriwether (New Girl) and Kim Rosenstock, leans into humor and authenticity.

Michelle Williams, known for her transformative performances in Blue Valentine and Manchester by the Sea, delivers what early glimpses suggest is another tour de force. Her portrayal of Molly is both vulnerable and fearless, capturing the complexity of a woman reclaiming her body and desires in the face of mortality. Jenny Slate, as Molly's best friend Nikki, provides the perfect comedic counterbalance, her goofy yet heartfelt performance grounding the series in warmth and levity.

The supporting cast is equally stellar, with Sissy Spacek, David Rasche, and Rob Delaney rounding out a lineup that promises both depth and laughs. Directed by Shannon Murphy (Babyteeth) and Chris Teague, the series balances its heavier themes with a visual style that's vibrant and alive, mirroring Molly's journey.

Dying For Sex isn't just another cancer story. It's a celebration of life, sexuality, and the power of friendship. By tackling taboo subjects with humor and heart, the series challenges viewers to rethink what it means to live—and die—on your own terms.

Dying For Sex is shaping up to be one of the most daring and emotionally resonant series of 2025. Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate are a match made in comedic heaven, their chemistry elevating the material from poignant to unforgettable. The series doesn't shy away from the messiness of life, but it also finds beauty in the chaos.

While the premise might sound heavy, the show's irreverent humor and unflinching honesty make it a must-watch. It's a reminder that even in the face of death, there's room for laughter, love, and a little bit of kink.

What would you do if you were given a second chance to live life on your own terms? Would you take the leap, like Molly, or play it safe?
