New comedy on the way, guys! This time, it's a comedy adventure film from Fox 2000 that will gather around some interesting Hollywood names. So we could definitely start with some young actors, like
Selena Gomez or
Katie Cassidy?
But that's not enough for a good and funny story, right? Few days ago we had a chance to hear that Glee star
Cory Monteith is a new member of the cast as well.
Let's go step by step, please!
Monte Carlo is a project based on the novel
Headhunters that had originally been developed for
Nicole Kidman to star.
Kind of simple story that centers on a girl who is mistaken for a socialite, resulting in her, her best friend and her soon-to-be stepsister flying to Monte Carlo for a charity auction. The story kicks into adventure mode when a million-dollar necklace goes missing and the girls must scramble to find it.
Now you probably wonder – wait, what's with that part that says “for Nicole Kidman to star”?
Yeah, well, Kidman has been attached to the project since 2005 and was, at one point, set to star in the film, together with
Julia Roberts. Than the studio changed gears with the film and decided to target a younger audience so now we have Cassidy to complete the trio of girls as a high school dropout and young Monteith will play her football star boyfriend.
Selena Gomez is replacing Nicole, but don't worry, Kidman is also working on this project, although – as producer, and may also play a supporting role.
This sounds little bit weird perhaps, but as you know, in this
Twilight-era, they recognize that all the money will be coming from a younger audience, that's a fact.
Andie McDowell and
Leighton Meester are also signed in, and McDowell will probably play Gomez' mom.
Monte Carlo will be directed by
Tom Bezucha from a screenplay he worked on with
April Blair, and filming is expected to begin soon, with production taking place in Budapest, Hungary, Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Paris as well as Nice, France.
Good one, or not, we'll just have to wait and see. With every new information about this one, we'll be back.
