National Treasure 3 In 2011

National Treasure 3 is coming! Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro announced at WonderCon that the duo are currently writing the script for the third National Treasure movie and will be teaming up with big shot producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub. So, it looks like Prince of Persia writers are hoping for something big here, right? Speaking of the next installment Jon Turteltaub says, “I'm guessing that we're a few years away. By the time we come up with a decent idea and develop it into a complicated and intelligent puzzle it's going to be at least 2009. Then to prep it and cast it… it should be three years away.” Let's refresh our memory guys. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets made a lot of money, well, ok, we could say $800 million, precisely. And that's quite good start, no doubt. This Disney adventure story is set in the United States and we all know it's about a search for a lost treasure, loosely based on the myth of a code on the back of the Declaration of Independence and involving stealing the document, which leads to a trail of clues and a back-story intertwined with the Knights Templar and the Freemasons. Of course, we had a really interesting team to watch, and one of the leaders was definitely the guy who had an opportunity to lead us trough the whole thing – Nicolas Cage, in the role of Benjamin Franklin Gates, historian and amateur cryptologist who comes from a long line of treasure hunters that believe in the legend of a fantastic treasure trove of artifacts and gold. So you already guess what we're wondering about! But no, no official word if Nicolas Cage has signed on to reprise the role of treasure hunter Ben Gates though Justin Bartha and Jon Voight are expected to return. On the other hand, we all know Turtletaub and Cage finished The Sorcerer's Apprentice last year so everything is possible since they clearly enjoy working with each other. And, ok, you may love it, or not be the fan of this kind of adventure stories, but this one could be interesting. It's not like no good actors are attached, and directing team is pretty good as well. So get ready for National Treasure 3!
