Netflix Abandons Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” Franchise, Focuses on Smaller Projects

Zack Snyder shifts gears as Netflix quietly cancels plans for the “Army of the Dead” franchise, including future films and an animated series. What’s next for the visionary director?

Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind iconic movies like 300 and Man of Steel, has always been known for his ambitious projects. Recently, his latest film, Rebel Moon, has come and gone, leaving fans eager to know what's next on his agenda. However, Snyder has expressed a desire to tackle something more intimate and smaller in scale for his next project, marking a departure from the sprawling epics he's known for.

One of the biggest questions for fans has been the fate of the Army of the Dead franchise. The original zombie action film, released in 2021, was a hit on Netflix, garnering a strong following and even spawning a prequel, Army of Thieves. However, the latter didn't capture the same attention, leading to doubts about the future of the franchise. Snyder had big plans, including new films and an animated series, but it seems Netflix has decided to pull the plug.

According to a report from The Wrap, Netflix has quietly canceled all future Army of the Dead projects, including the highly anticipated animated series. Snyder himself acknowledged the ambitious nature of the franchise, but it appears that for now, the only related content fans can look forward to is a themed experience at Six Flags theme parks this Halloween.

Both Army of the Dead and the director's cut of Rebel Moon are still available on Netflix, providing fans with a chance to revisit Snyder's work. As the director shifts his focus to smaller, possibly more personal projects, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him and his dedicated fanbase.

Snyder's move to step back from the grandiose spectacle might surprise some, but it's a testament to his versatility as a filmmaker. Whether it's a massive blockbuster or a more intimate narrative, one thing is certain: Zack Snyder will continue to captivate audiences with his unique vision.
