Halle Berry‘s upcoming thriller, “Never Let Go,” has garnered attention for the actress's immersive preparation for the role. Berry, who plays a mother of two boys living in the wilderness, learned survival skills, including skinning squirrels and eating bugs and raw frogs.
The film, directed by Alexandre Aja, follows a mother and her fraternal twins who have never left their forested environs. Berry, who reteams with Lionsgate after her Oscar-winning performance in “Monster's Ball,” shared her experience at CinemaCon, stating, “I had to learn how to skin a squirrel”.
Berry's dedication to the role is evident in her willingness to explore the realities of mothering in a secluded environment and her commitment to bringing authenticity to the character. The film's setting, which involves the characters being bounded by rope when they venture into the woods, adds to the eerie atmosphere.
When asked about drawing on her instincts as a mother for the role, Berry responded, “This movie reminds me how I would protect my children in this life. We often say I would take a bullet for my kids. Would you take a knife for your kids? What would you do to protect your children?”.
“Never Let Go” is set to release on September 27, taking the place of “Saw XI,” which has been moved to next year.
