Ariel Vormen's crime-thriller
The Iceman, the true story of Richard Kuklinski: loving husband, devoted father and ruthless killer, is amongst the top of the most anticipated films that will headline the 37th
Toronto International Film Festival scheduled to run from Sept 6-16.
However, Vromen is first unspooling his hitman biopic out of Lido's competish at the 69th Venice Film Festival that run Aug. 29-Sept. 8.
Oscar-nominee
Michael Shannon takes the lead as the eponymous Iceman, who is believed to have killed more than 250 people between 1954 and 1985.
Bearing in mind Shannon's predictably paranoid performance, The Iceman may play out as either a cold character study or as a compelling psychological thriller.
His stellar supporting cast includes
Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, David Schwimmer, and
Ray Liotta.
The Iceman, written and directed by relative rookie Vromen, doesn't yet have a release date.
