On the Road.
Viggo Mortensen co-stars opposite
Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley,
Kristen Stewart,
Kirsten Dunst,
Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss, Danny Morgan and Marie-Ginette Guay in the film. It chronicles Sal Paradise (Riley)'s travels and his encounters with the wild Dean Moriarty (Hedlund) and his 16-year-old wife Marylou (Stewart). It's a coming-of-age story, a look at the times and a romantic drama all rolled into one.
Here's the synopsis:
Just after his father's death, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a devastatingly charming ex-con, married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou. Sal and Dean bond instantly. Determined not to get locked in to a constricted life, the two friends cut their ties and take to the road with Marylou. Thirsting for liberty, the three young people head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves.
Regular Salles collaborator Jose Rivera wrote the script, and the film is headed for this year's Cannes Festival before a planned UK release on September 21st, 2012. US release date is still to be decided.
