Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Sean Penn Present Oscars 2010

Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Sean Penn will all present Oscars at this year's ceremony.

Traditionally, the acting winners from the previous year return to hand out trophies of their own.

They will be among the many presenters at this year's 82nd annual Academy Awards.

The trio – Cruz, Winslet, Penn – were chosen because they won awards in the acting categories last year.

Cruz won the ‘Best Supporting Actress' prize for her role in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” Winslet took home the ‘Best Actress' prize for “The Reader,” while Penn won ‘Best Actor' Oscar for his role in “Milk.”

Penelope Cruz had been previously nominated in the Best Actress category for Pedro Almodóvar's “Volver” (2006) and is up for an Oscar this year for her supporting performance in Rob Marshall's movie-musical “Nine.”

Sean Penn has been nominated five times for Best Actor in a Leading Role. His first Oscar was in 2003 for Clint Eastwood's “Mystic River.” Penn's other nominations were for Tim Robbins‘ “Dead Man Walking” (1995), Woody Allen's “Sweet and Lowdown” (1999) and Jessie Nelson's “I Am Sam” (2001).

Kate Winslet was last year's Best Actress Oscar winner for Stephen Daldry's movie. She has been nominated five more times: as best actress for James Cameron's “Titanic” (1997), Michel Gondry's “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004) and Todd Field's “Little Children” (2006) and as best supporting actress for Ang Lee's “Sense and Sensibility” (1995) and Richard Eyre's “Iris” (2001).

The fourth performer to be honoured last year was Heath Ledger, who won the ‘Best Supporting Actor' title posthumously for his performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan's “The Dark Knight.” He'd previously been nominated in the best actor category for Ang Lee's “Brokeback Mountain.”

Last year, a new twist was added, in which the winners from 2007 presented alongside a number of famous Oscar winners, including Robert DeNiro, Sophia Loren and Shirley MacLaine.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will host this year's ceremony at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on March 7, 2010 and will air live on ABC.
