Luxembourgian filmmaker, Désirée Nosbusch's upcoming romantic thriller Poison will depict grief, love, and tension. With Tim Roth and Trine Dyrholm in the lead roles, this movie gives the audience a glimpse of pain, which a tragedy leaves behind, it is a magnificent portrayal of a couple who have to come face to face with their past.
The plot is based on a couple, Lucas (Roth) and Edith (Dyrholm) who have not seen each other for 10 years after their only child dies in an accident. Greed's instructions are to meet Edith at the grave yard where their child is buried, during which meeting resolutions are strained and old bottled-up feelings resurface. In the trailer, there are glimpses of emotionally charged scenes where Lucas and Edith unleash the bitterness that was never completely eradicated, but also the love that once connected them.

The trailer also suggests that Poison is not only about mourning but also about people's interactions. With Nosbusch in the director's seat, she also captures the silent rage shared between the two leads, while also emphasizing their excellent acting. This talented actor, most famed for his varied roles in such movies as Reservoir Dogs and The Hateful Eight, conveys the essence of Lucas firmly but unobtrusively, while the Danish favourite for Queen of Hearts role Dyrholm plays Edith with much emotion and feeling.
Since its world premiere at the 2024 Munich Film Festival, the film is already earning buzz for telling the story of love and grief. Poison surely needs to be a profound drama characterized by powerful acting and evocative music and underpinned by Nosbusch's somehow light though still trenchant directing.
Another movie to look forward to is Poison with its powerful themes and an excellent set of actors. As for now, no exact U. S. release date has been announced, but it is expected to come out in Australia later this year through Transmission Films. Watch this hidden treasure—this is going to touch your soul more than any catchy plot ever could.
