Rade Serbedzija Cast as TAKEN 2’s VIllain
Rade Serbedzija (also credited as Rade Sherbedgia) has been cast as the villain in 20th Century Fox and EuropaCorp's sequel to the immensely popular 2008 actioner Taken.
Liam Neeson returns as retired CIA agent Bryan Mills in the upcoming Taken 2. Upcoming Taken sequel was given the official release date of October 5, 2012 for the Columbus Day weekend.
Vet thesp of Serbian origin will take on the role of buddy Murad. This time Bryan and his wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) will be held hostage by Murad, who is the father of the kidnapper Bryan Mills kills and their daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) has to save them. Serbedzija's character is briefly described as a vengeful man who gives orders and doesn't take them.
The script was penned by Robert Mark Kamen and Luc Besson who also co-wrote the first Taken movie. Olivier Megaton (Colombiana) will replace his French colleague Pierre Morel and start directing Taken follow-up later this month in Turkey and France. Its PG-13 guaranteed, with plenty of violence, but mostly bloodless.
Considered one of the former Yugoslavia's finest actors, Serbedzija will next star in Angelina Jolie's directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, which will be released in December. His A-list credits include Batman Begins, which also starred Neeson, Mission: Impossible II and an outstanding turn as ex-KGB agent and arms-dealer Boris ‘The Blade' Yurinov in Snatch.
He also made unforgettable appearances on the hit action thriller series 24 as the villainous former Soviet Red Army general Dmitri Gredenko in the sixth season.
