“Oh Canada” is a film that focuses on a renowned Canadian documentary filmmaker sharing his life story with a former student. Directed by Paul Schrader, who previously collaborated with Gere on “American Gigolo”, the movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Uma Thurman, Jacob Elordi, Victoria Hill, and Michael Imperioli.

Gere, 74, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo, white dress shirt, and black bow tie, while Silva, 41, exuded elegance in a strapless black A-line gown adorned with floral embroidery. The couple accessorized with long sparkling dangle earrings, a necklace, and multiple rings, completing their stylish look for the event.

The couple, who married in a secret ceremony in April 2018, has been together for several years and has two children together: Alexander, 5, and a younger son born in April 2020. Gere also shares a son, Homer, 24, with his ex-wife Carey Lowell.

Despite their busy schedules, Gere and Silva make time for each other and support each other's endeavors. In January 2023, Silva accompanied Gere to a special screening of his film “Maybe I Do”. Gere spoke about the importance of commitment in a marriage, saying, “There are always two things happening in any relationship. You, as an individual, are still trying to figure out who you are, and how do you share that with another person? Does it fit?”

He continued, “The person that you are today was not the same person you were 50 years ago when the relationship started. They're not the same person. You're not the same people together. So it's a constant checking in to see, ‘Does this work?'”

Gere and Silva's appearance at the Cannes Film Festival is a testament to their strong relationship and their support for each other's careers. As Gere continues to impress audiences with his acting skills, Silva stands by his side, sharing in his success and celebrating his achievements.
