Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Chloe Moretz In Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret
We're sure you all remember we wrote about Martin Scorsese‘s adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret, best-selling children's book by Brian Selznick.
Now is the right time to check the news about this project.
So, as we heard, Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley are probably going to be the part of the story about the 12 year old Hugo Cabret, an orphan, dedicated to his late father's ambition to solve the mystery of a broken robot while living inside a train station.
We all know Kingsley just finished work on Scorsese's Shutter Island, but it will definetely be interesting to see how it's going to work out for Cohen, since this will be his first time to work with this well-known director.
Cohen will play the role of the station inspector while Kingsley will play George Melies, famous real-life silent filmmaker who plays a pivotal role in the story.
But this is not the end of report! In the mean time, two lead child actors have been chosen, Asa Butterfield will play the titular Hugo Cabret and Chloe Moretz will play “an eccentric, bookish girl” who comes into Hugo's life while he tries to solve the mystery of a broken robot.
It sounds good for us, we already wrote about young Moretz, and her role of modern hero Hit Girl in Kick ass, and you probably remember Butterfield from The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
While we are still here, let us remind you that this book has been a longtime best-seller and it's illustrations have not only received praised in the literary world, so it's no wonder to find critics like that say
“The faces, especially the eyes, are mesmerizing in their depth, beauty and seem stunningly lifelike yet with the haunting quality of a dream. The silent movie stills along with archival photographs of the era contribute to the dreamlike, silent film feel of the book.“
The only thing now is to wait and see how the whole thing will work out. But since we have a good story, good actors and briliant director, what's there to be suspicious about?
