Sandra Bullock in Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY?
So we all know that Angelina Jolie turned down Gravity. We also know that the lead role is currently offered to Natalie Portman.
But what we just found out is that the Oscar-winning actress, Sandra Bullock, is a strong possibility for the lead role in Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi drama if Portman (the first choice of the Mexican director) turns down the offer she was given last week.
According to CinemaBlend “Bullock is waiting in the wings if Natalie Portman decides to pass. She's who Warner Bros. really wants as the lead in “Gravity”, mostly just because she's really famous and she's been the lead in a few $100 million dollar movies.
Cuaron on the other hand would rather try and find ways to cut his budget to make his movie without a big, Hollywood star than go this route, but the studio sees Bullock as outer space leading woman material.”
Anyway, Gravity will follow a female astronaut's efforts to return home to Earth and her daughter as she is stranded on a space station after satellite debris slams into it and wipes out the rest of the crew.
Robert Downey Jr. is attached to portray a second main character of the team leader, and shooting for the film is expected to start in 2011 after Downey Jr. wraps up Sherlock Holmes 2.
And, just for a record, the female lead has the maximum screen time similar to that of Tom Hanks' role in the ‘Castaway'.
One reason more for us to keep an eye on Gravity, so stay tuned for updates!
