Masterfull horror story… Let's be honest, this really sounds like a perfect job for the team behind (quite successful at the box office these days)
Sinister movie! So no wonder we already have writer/director
Scott Derrickson and producer
Jason Blum on board for an adaptation of
Stephen King‘s novella
The Breathing Method.
In case you're not so familiar with the whole thing, let me first inform you that
The Breathing Method was originally published as part of 1982 anthology
Different Seasons.
King's tale is told from the point of view of Dr Emlyn McCarron, an aged attorney who, during his career at a New York law firm, gets invited by a senior partner to join him at a private men's club. Members are greeted and served by the ubiquitous semi-sinister butler-type character.
The club and its furnishings have some mysteries of their own that are tantalizing but never fully revealed. The main activity at the club is storytelling, which leads to King's central plot.
Christmas time at the club was reserved for a scary story, and a doctor recounts a poignant and horrible tale from his past about a young woman patient “in trouble” in the mid-1930's.
If you ask me – this definitely sounds awesome and it would be interesting to see who will come on board to play those characters.
In the meanwhile, I will also add that
Scott Teems will be responsible for the movie script, and as usual – for more details about this project – you'll just have to stay tuned!
