Tom Hardy's Venom and Tom Holland's Spider-Man: A Marvel Match-Up?
For months, rumors have swirled about Tom Hardy's Venom making an appearance in Spider-Man 4. Fans have speculated that the movie might explore a storyline involving Spider-Man and Venom joining forces to battle Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, hinted at in Venom: The Last Dance.
These rumors gained traction recently after an apparent Sony Pictures Japan press release added fuel to the fire. According to The Cosmic Circus, the release features intriguing lines that translate to Tom Holland praising the new film's story, and a suggestion that Tom Hardy could be part of it.
One translated excerpt reads, “Tom Holland, who plays Peter [Parker], has already given his stamp of approval to the story! ‘This will be a real movie that fans can respect!' Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the Venom series, ready to take part?”
Another line hints at Venom's ongoing narrative, with Hardy allegedly saying, “In fact, I should not say goodbye to Venom, but welcome to the final stage [The Last Dance]. Venom's story is not over yet. He still has a lot to do.”
While the translations may not be fully accurate, the hints are enough to keep fans speculating. Social media buzz has made it a trending topic, even though Sony has yet to confirm or deny any official involvement of Hardy's Venom in Spider-Man 4.
It's worth noting that international branches of Sony Pictures inadvertently hinted at Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's return before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Those leaks turned out to be true, giving weight to these new rumors.
Filming for Spider-Man 4 is set to begin in summer 2025, with a scheduled release in 2026. If Hardy does join the cast, it could mark a new chapter in the Spider-Man cinematic universe.
The idea of Tom Hardy's Venom teaming up with Tom Holland's Spider-Man is exciting for fans of both characters. If the rumors prove true, the narrative possibilities are vast, especially with Knull as a potential antagonist. Hardy's Venom has proven to be a complex antihero, and pairing him with Holland's more idealistic Spider-Man could create fascinating dynamics.
However, Sony's history of hyping crossovers without delivering leaves room for skepticism. If these rumors are unfounded, fans might face disappointment. On the other hand, if handled properly, this crossover could redefine expectations for future Marvel collaborations.
