STAR WARS REBELS First Teaser

Star Wars-Rebels-Ghost Concept Art Lucasfilm and Disney have released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming animated ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series, set between the prequel and original trilogies. The 16-second trailer introduces two classic images from the original trilogy, both the opening shot of ‘A New Hope’ and Han Solo’s classic “float away with the rest of the garbage” maneuver from ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ The gripping, all-new animated television series hits the Big Apple at New York Comic Con 2013 panel, which kicks off this week running from October 10-13th, though we’ll likely gain a stronger insight into it. ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will feature screenwriter  Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class), who’s writing the first episode, as well as ‘Clone Wars’ supervising director Dave Filoni and ‘Young Justice’ producer Greg Weisman, and this one is designed to be compatible with the saga movies, including the upcoming Episode VII. David Oyelowo, Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, and Steven Jay Blum are among the names in the process of being cast as the voice leads. Check out the teaser. The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
