Anger rages in Philip (Jason Schwartzman) as he awaits the publication of his sure-to-succeed second novel. He feels pushed out of his adopted home city by the constant crowds and noise, a deteriorating relationship with his photographer girlfriend Ashley (Elisabeth Moss), and his own indifference to promoting the novel. When Philip’s idol Ike Zimmerman (Jonathan Pryce) offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favorite subject—himself.
Sundance Trailer For LISTEN UP PHILIP
Listen Up Philip from writer/director Alex Ross Perry that is playing in 2014 Sundance’s lower-budgeted ‘Next’ section in just a few days, finally gets its first teaser trailer.
Jason Schwartzman leads the film which doesn’t seem like it’s going to be any less misanthropic than Perry’s great low-budget dark comedy, The Color Wheel.
The teaser features a lot of people addressing Schwartzman’s titular character, an obnoxious but talented author who’s waiting for his new novel to be released and watching his relationship (to Elisabeth Moss) unravel.
A pretty great supporting cast includes Krysten Ritter, Jonathan Pryce, Josephine de La Baume, Jess Weixler, Dree Hemingway and Eric Bogosian.
The film premieres on Monday.
