Superman in Peacemaker Season 2? A Veteran’s Skepticism—and Why It Might Just Work

A cryptic photo of David Corenswet in Superman gear has fans speculating—but Gunn’s keeping cards close.

Peacemaker Season

August 21, 2025. Mark it. That's when Peacemaker Season 2 storms onto HBO Max, all eight episodes of it, guns blazing, jokes flying, and—if the rumor mill is to be believed—maybe, just maybe, a certain Kryptonian dropping by.

Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo to fans) recently posted an Instagram story with David Corenswet in full Superman regalia, face dotted with VFX markers. Her caption: “So proud of you.” Cue the internet meltdown. Is this a cameo tease? A red herring? Or just two colleagues sharing a moment between green-screen sessions?

Let's not pretend this is subtle.

James Gunn, ever the maestro of controlled chaos, has already hinted that Superman will appear somewhere before his 2025 solo film. “You'll see him before then,” he told the Phase Hero podcast—coy, but not quite a confirmation. And yes, John Cena's Peacemaker did crash the Superman movie, so reciprocity isn't off the table.

But here's where I raise an eyebrow.

Corenswet himself has mused about wanting Superman in an R-rated project—“a True Detective-style Lanterns,” he suggested. Peacemaker, blood-splattered and foul-mouthed, fits the bill. Yet Gunn's DCU has been careful about tonal whiplash. Superman, bright and hopeful, wading into Peacemaker's morally murky, dick-joke-laden world? It's either a stroke of genius or a disaster waiting to happen.

Remember Superman Returns' awkward grimness? Or Justice League's tonal identity crisis? Crossovers like this live or die on execution. Gunn's deft hand with absurdity (Guardians of the Galaxy) and pathos (The Suicide Squad) suggests he could pull it off—if the cameo serves the story, not just the algorithm.

No official confirmation. Just a photo, a podcast tease, and fan fervor. In my decades covering this circus, I've learned: Assume nothing until the credits roll.

Would a Superman cameo work? If anyone can balance spectacle and sincerity, it's Gunn. But let's not confuse hype for inevitability. August 21 will tell. Until then, color me intrigued—but holding my applause.

Could that possibly mean he will appear in ‘PEACEMAKER' Season 2? 👀 pic.twitter.com/JVUHK6PKHU
