The first trio of indie types tested for the part of Harry Osborn, best pal to Peter Parker in
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were
Brady Corbet (Martha Marcy May Marlene),
Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) and
Alden Ehrenreich (Stoker).
After a week, comes word that four more thesps are set to audition, including
Douglas Booth (Noah),
Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman),
Boyd Holbrook (The Host) and
Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn).
Harry Osborn, the son of Green Goblin Norman Osborne is an important character in the comic book who soon becomes Parker's arch-nemesis. You probably remember James Franco played the Osborn role in the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films and plan was to continue the tradition of a more brooding and dark path for the character in the new films.
Andrew Garfield will be reprising his role as Peter Parker and director
Marc Webb is also returning, while
Emma Stone is in talks to make a second appearance as Gwen Stacy. The Descendants star
Shailene Woodley is set to join the cast as Mary Jane Watson and
Jamie Foxx is reportedly in early talks to appear as a character called Electro, who acquires the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning.
With the production slated to begin early next year, TASM2 is set to open on May 2nd, 2014.
