After news that Idris Elba has been tipped for a role in the upcoming action-thriller, Ray Winstone is now set to join Sean Penn and Javier Bardem in Pierre Morel‘s The Gunman as well.
This time around, an outstanding British actor who tends to play working-class London psychotics, signed on to play the mentor to Penn’s titular character, a hired killer betrayed by and hunted down by his crime organization employer.
Pete Travism who directed the violent 2012 comic book adaptation Dredd, wrote the adapted script from the Jean-Patrick Manchette novel ‘The Prone Gunman,’ which was published post-mortem in 2002.
According to Deadline, Italian actress Jasmine Trinca (Miele) has been added to the top-notch cast as the female lead.
Production is slated to begin later this month and will start in Barcelona, Spain.
Winstone, whose tough guy cred includes The Departed, Sexy Beast, 44 Inch Chest, recently wrapped work in Darren Aronofsky‘s biblical epic Noah, with Russell Crowe as Noah.
