Actress is in final negotiations to portray the female lead, Leatherface's cousin Heather in a re-imagining that takes place after the 1974 horror classic.
After the film spawned sequels, remakes, and prequels, Leatherface is returning in an all new horror movie in 2012. The latest incarnation of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will hit theaters in 3-D next October 5th from helmer John Luessenhop (Takers) and producer Carl Mazzocone(Boxing Helena). Mazzocone told Total Film:
I'm excited to re-conceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy. Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D.”
Plot details surfaced which indicated Texas Chainsaw 3D takes place immediately after the events of the original feature, which was directed by Tobe Hooper.
Furthermore, screenplay by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan, which was polished by Kirsten Elms and John Luessenhop, instead of making the usual horror affair, wants to put some mystery into the bag. The police and townspeople are called to bring Leatherfacein for his sins, so he can get a fair trial thanks to Sheriff Hooper. But, the angry crowd ends up burning down his house and all of its inhabitants. Heather, the main character, finds out that she is a relative of Leatherface, and new murders begin occurring. As she discovers this news, Hooper is on the hunt to find the killer.
The film becomes more of a mystery and it's a really interesting point of view. On the other hand, we might get a little less Leatherface than expected. Production is scheduled to start later this month in Shreveport, Louisiana.
