The last time we talked about Terry Gilliam‘s upcoming The Zero Theorem, we shared the very first poster and some pretty cool images with Christoph Waltz. In case you forgot – he plays a reclusive computer genius working on a formula to determine whether life holds meaning. Today, we're back with the first clip and three more pics from the whole thing. Head inside to take a look, this really looks fantastic…
I think it paints a stark picture of where we are right now. The future has come and met us, we actually don't live in the present anymore, we live in the future because it's happening so quickly. It's really about the world we're living in and being connected. When, as an individual, can we be alone in a connected world like this? Those are the things that intrigue me.
Terry Gilliam
Those are the things that intrigue us as well, and that's exactly why we're so interested in The Zero Theorem, which is scheduled to premiere at the 70th Venice International Film Festival on September 2nd, 2013.
Gilliam directed the movie from a script written by Pat Rushin, which revolves around a computer hacker named Qohen Leth, whose goal is to discover the reason for human existence.
In other words, Waltz stars as:
…an eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst who works on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence or the lack thereof once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.
The rest of The Zero Theorem cast looks promising, and includes Tilda Swinton, Ben Whishaw, Mélanie Thierry, Matt Damon, David Thewlis and Lucas Hedges.
