Robert Downey Jr. returns as the discerning detective along with a mustachioed
Jude Law as loyal assistant Dr. Watson. New to the team is
Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Repace as his music hall femme interest.
Loosely based on the mystery stories of Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle, “Sherlock Holmes 2” centers on the fabled quirky-mannered detective as he continues his pursuit of Professor Moriarty, whom he suspects to be the world's number one supervillain. In his attempt to solve the case, he is supported by his long trusted partner Dr. Watson, and gets help from his older brother Mycroft Holmes and a gypsy woman named Sim.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was written by Kieren and Michele Mulroney.
Stephen Fry co-stars as Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes, with
Eddie Marsan reprising his role as Inspector Lestrade.
The sequel to 2009's
Sherlock Holmes is slated to arrive in theaters across the U.S. on December 16th, 2011.
