Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for Andy and Lana Wachowski‘s new sci-fi flick, Jupiter Ascending.
The Wachowski siblings have described their upcoming film earlier this year:
It has a lot of things from a lot of genres that we love. It’s got a lot of original action, it’s got a lot of romance.
Judging from this trailer, it’s undeniable that it had the stamp of The Matrix directors, but now they’re making the leap to space and it appears to be lighter and a bit more adventurous in spirit.
The film stars Mila Kunis as Jupiter Jones, a recent Russian immigrant who has to scrub toilets for a living, but then discovers she has the genetic signature that makes her next in line to be Queen of the Universe.
Channing Tatum co-stars as a genetically engineered human sworn to kill and then protect her.
Jupiter Ascending, which also stars Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, James D’Arcy, Tim Pigott-Smith, and Doona Bae, hits theaters on July 25th, 2014.

Synopsis:
From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, ‘Jupiter Ascending’ tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
