Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. “The Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD's efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.Just in case you missed a snazzy new poster, here's the preview:
Watch: New Trailer For GANGSTER SQUAD
You likely already know the story of delaying the release of Ruben Fleischer's crime drama Gangster Squad. Well at least a new trailer for cops ‘n' mobsters thriller has been released.
Following the tragic shootings at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, Fleischer directed reshoots featuring Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin as original sequence in which mobsters open fire at an LA cinema was deemed too similar to real-life events in Colorado.
In the freshly crafted trailer Brolin is downplayed, putting more emphasis on Gosling and his romance with Emma Stone, although there's still plenty of time dedicated to Sean Penn and his depiction of legendary mob kingpin Mickey Cohen.
The film which opens on January 11th, 2013 also stars Nick Nolte, Michael Peña, Anthony Mackie, and Giovanni Ribisi.
