The first trailer for the highly anticipated remake of
Brian De Palma's horror classic
Carrie has arrived online this week.
A brand new teaser offers fans a chance to see
Chloe Moretz wearing her prom dress and covered in pig's blood, in the form of a bird's eye view of Carrie's hometown up in flames leading to the shot.
It debuted at the New York Comic-Con last Saturday where director
Kimberly Peirce explained that the new film will hedge even more closely to King's source prose than De Palma's work.
I took a lot from reading Stephen King's fantastic novel — Carrie's plight, Carrie's mother, and thinking ‘My god, this is a fantastic story. The cast always took us right back to the book. They share this love for King's material.
The film with a screenplay by
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also stars
Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and
Julianne Moore, but none of them is really seen in this yet.
ScreenGems are planning to release new Carrie in theaters starting on October 18th, 2013.
Watch the new trailer and check out the first official poster also unveiled at Comic-Con.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris' best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
