Zombies Ate My Neighbors Based on the ’90s Video Game in Development

Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Zombies Ate My Neighbors adaptation is in early development. Sounds familiar? Well, of course, I’m sure you all remember this Super Nintendo game that was released back in 1993. And, just in case you’re wondering who will be responsible for this adaptation, we’re here to clear things out for you! Filmmaker John Darko wants to get financing for the script he wrote based on the game. Apparently the film will be made independently, and, according to the latest reports from FirstShowing, the whole thing is described as “John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero” or “a bit like Superbad + Zombieland + Home Alone.” Confused so far? Well, don’t look at me, I’m actually Mortal Kombat fan! But, let’s see what Wikipedia has to say about this game: “The player chooses between two teenage characters, Zeke and Julie, or both in a two-player mode. They navigate suburban neighborhoods, shopping malls, pyramids, Haunted castles and other areas, destroying a variety of horror-movie monsters, including vampires, werewolves, huge demonic babies, merman, evil dolls, and the game’s flagship, zombies. In each of the 48 stages, which includes seven optional bonus levels, the goal is to rescue the surviving neighbors, at which point a magical door opens that will take the player to the next stage. If the player is not careful, any foe in the game will kill the neighbors upon touch, preventing them from being saved. At least one neighbor must be saved from each level to progress to the next. The game is lost if the players lose all of their lives or if all of the neighbors in the current stage are killed.” Awful. But who knows, there’s no actual plot details at the moment so we’re only guessing that we’ll have some teenagers killing zombies and saving their town, or something like that. The film is written by John Darko and produced by Darko, April Wade and Ahmed al Baker. Zombies Ate My Neighbors is still in the process of securing rights and finding a director and financiers. But, as usual, we’re expecting more details as soon as possible, so stay tuned! Zombies Ate My Neighbors
