Burr Steers To Write & Direct An Adaptation Of BREED!

BREED Chase Novak‘s horror novel Breed is getting an adaptation. Summit Entertainment is behind the project, and according to the latest reports Burr Steers is already on board to write and direct the whole thing. Horror thriller is always a good choice (I guess), but I must admit that Steers -part of the story is quite a surprise. I mean, this man directed 17 Again and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, wtf? Anyway, the most important thing is that Breed definitey has a potential. Novak’s novel centers on a couple who undergo an experimental fertility treatment that turns them into bloodthirsty savages, leading them on a desperate quest to find a cure. Chase Novak aka Scott Spencer has written 11 novels, and he’s probably best known for his best-seller Endless Love, which has sold over 2 million copies and garnered him a nomination for the National Book Award. When it comes to Breed, I definitely hope that we’ll soon have some casting updates to share with you, and in the meanwhile (in case you’re interested to hear more details) here’s an official description of the novel:
Alex and Leslie Twisden lead charmed lives-fabulous jobs, a luxurious town house on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a passionate marriage. What they don’t have is a child, and as they try one infertility treatment after the next, yearning turns into obsession. As a last-ditch attempt to make their dream of parenthood come true, Alex and Leslie travel deep into Slovenia, where they submit to a painful and terrifying procedure that finally gives them what they so fervently desire . . . but with awful consequences. Ten years later, cosseted and adored but living in a house of secrets, the twins Adam and Alice find themselves locked into their rooms every night, with sounds coming from their parents’ bedroom getting progressively louder, more violent, and more disturbing. Driven to a desperate search for answers, Adam and Alice set out on a quest to learn the true nature of the man and woman who raised them. Their discovery will upend everything they thought they knew about their parents and will reveal a threat so horrible that it must be escaped, at any cost.
At the end, let us also mention that David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films will produce Breed adaptation, while Erik Feig, Geoff Shaevitz and Jina Jones will oversee the project for the studio. For more updates on Breed – stay tuned! BREED Novel Cover
