“Elegy” – First Five Minutes

Take a look at the first five minutes of “Elegy,” directed by Isabel Coixet, based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Philip Roth’s short novel “The Dying Animal” starring Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley and Oscar-nominee Penelope Cruz, with extraordinary supporting performances from Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson and Peter Sarsgaard.

In the movie, cultural critic David Kepesh (Kingsley) finds his life, which he indicates is a state of “emancipated manhood,” thrown into tragic disarray by Consuela Castillo (Cruz), a well-mannered student who awakens a sense of sexual possessiveness in her teacher.
