Kate Hudson To Star In ‘Big Eyes’

Kate HudsonKate Hudson has signed to play painter Margaret Keane in the independently financed film Big Eyes. The movie will be the directorial debut of Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski – who also wrote the script.

Variety reports the film is set to start production in June, but it could depend on a resolution of a new SAG contract. The movie is being produced by Dan Halsted, Bonafide partners Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, and Andrew Meieran (who put up financing on the film through his Bureau of Moving Pictures).

Keane became one of art’s first mass marketed names in the 1950s and was known for her creations featuring big-eyed children. The film will cover her journey at the beginning of the feminist movement to the lawsuit she filed against her husband – who claimed credit for her work.
