Resident Evil: Retribution helmer Paul W.S. Anderson has got together an impressive cast for his next movie, the lava-story-turned-love-story Pompeii. He already has Emily Browning from Sucker Punch and Kit Harington from Game of Thrones and has now scored Sherlock Holmes star Jared Harris to co-star.
Harris will play the part of Lucretius, a wealthy merchant whose daughter Flavia (Browning) is jeopardized by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, 79 AD . She has also been unwillingly promised to a corrupt Roman General, so slave-turned-gladiator Milo (Harington) races to save her in terms of a romantic hero.
Filming was pushed to this year and is underway in Pompeii, Italy, moving to Toronto at the end of March.
Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler, Michael Robert Johnson, and Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) co-wrote the screenplay.
Will Milo make it in time to save Flavia from the terrifying flow we just have to wait next year to see this 3D movie.
Roman Polanski had been previously involved in a project to film another Robert Harris blockbuster, Pompeii, but pulled out in 2007.
