New poster and movie photos for the upcoming film “Elegy,” has been released. The Movie is based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Philip Roth‘s short novel The Dying Animal, starring Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz with extraordinary supporting performances from Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson and Peter Sarsgaard.
In the movie, cultural critic David Kepesh (Kingsley) finds his life, which he indicates is a state of “emancipated manhood”, thrown into tragic disarray by Consuela Castillo (Cruz), a well-mannered student who awakens a sense of sexual possessiveness in her teacher.
“Elegy” is directed by Isabel Coixet. It is scheduled to hit theaters on August 8th.

Isabel Coixet’s ”Elegy” will be seen at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).
Edinburgh’s 62nd, takes place at the earlier dates of June 18 to 29. This year for the first time it moves forward from its traditional August.

‘Elegy’, the movie, directed by Spanish director Isabel Coixet, is based on Philip Roth’s masterpiece The Dying Animal. The story traces the chapters of the passionate, tormented and full of twists relationship between David Kepesh (Ben Kingsley) a 60 something professor who’s allergic to stable relationships with women, and Consuela (Penelope Cruz), a student who’s thirty years younger than him. With her, David will have to cope with deep emotions, fears, death, and even hope.
