Madonna and Lourdes

Last time we had a little chat about Madonna‘s upcoming upcoming W.E. project, we reported that Ewan McGregor is set to star as King Edward VIII, and that the rest of the cast includes Vera Farmiga and Abbie Cornish.

But that’s not going to happen. At least, not with that cast. Ok, Cornish is still on board, but McGregor and Farmiga are not, so – as you already guess, we’re here to update a whole thing, and share some interesting cast news with you!

W.E. is about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating the throne to marry his divorcee lover.

Above mentioned McGregor and Farmiga were attached to play the royal couple, but now we have Andrea Riseborough and James D’Arcy on board for those roles. On the other hand, Oscar Isaac stars as Cornish’s love interest. The rest of the cast includes Natalie Dormer and James and Laurence Fox.

Ewan McGregor In Madonna’s W.E.

By Fiona | Mar 23, 2010 | Movie News (0) Comment

Ewan McGregorLooks like pop diva Madonna is set to direct W.E. using the script she’s writing together with Alex Keshishian (remember him from Truth or Dare, right?).

This new project is actually biopic of royal proportion, and if you check the rest of our report, you might get little surprised hearing what it’s all about, and what actors are involved in the whole project…

So, we know that this would be Madonna’s second directorial film, since we all know her directorial debut film was Filth And Wisdom released in 2008.

This new project is, as we heard, going to be something completely different, because this time the story is about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating the throne to marry his divorcee lover.

Ok, you may love the story, or hate it, but what do you think about the two leading roles?

Madonna’s “Filth and Wisdom” Trailer

Madonna

Madonna‘s directorial debut “Filth and Wisdom” follows three oddball flatmates in London chasing dreams of fame and fulfillment while doing unsavory jobs to make ends meet.

Its main character, A.K., is played by Ukrainian Eugene Hutz, and the music from his real-life punk band Gogol Bordello is used extensively throughout.

Madonna told the basic point of the story was to explore the “duality” of life, between “light and dark,” “right and wrong,” and that the filth and wisdom of the title were not so very far apart.

Madonna planned to make more movies in the future, and she is unlikely to be too bothered by what the critics say.
