22 New Green Zone Photos
Universal Pictures has sent over a new hi-res pics from their upcoming film Green Zone starring Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, Amy Ryan, Brendan Gleeson, Jason Isaacs and Khalid Abdalla.
Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences.
During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission.
Paul Greengrass’ Final Word on Bourne
We sure enjoyed watching the Bourne trilogy story with Matt Damon in the leading role, but seems like his mission this time really ends…
Everything started with The Bourne Identity, 2002 spy film based on Robert Ludlum’s novel of the same name, directed by Doug Liman. In very short time, movie recevied a positive critical and public reaction, so it was pretty logical that Jason Bourne’s adventures are not over.
The film was followed by a 2004 sequel The Bourne Supremacy, and 2007 Oscar nominated third part The Bourne Ultimatum, with Paul Greengrass taking over for the second and third installments.
Although Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass claimed they were calling it quits after the third installment, at one moment – both were reported to be attached to the fourth film.
So the speculations continued, until Greengrass decided to stop them, saying:
“Listen, I just love the Bourne franchise, number one, and I owe it a great deal, and I gave my all on the two films that I made. But when I was honest with myself last Autumn, and I was starting to get going on other things, you just come to a point where you realize you’ve done it,” he began.
“Green Zone” Behind-The-Scenes
Universal has debuted a behind-the-scenes featurette for Paul Greengrass-directed “Green Zone” starring Matt Damon.
Greengrass (Bourne Supremacy, United 93, Bourne Ultimatum) directed from the script written by Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Conspiracy Theory, Mystic River, Man on Fire).
The screenplay is inspired by the book “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” by Rajiv Chandrasekaran.

Ron Howard Directing Ludlum’s Parsifal Mosaic
Universal Pictures has attached Ron Howard to direct “The Parsifal Mosaic,” an espionage thriller written by author Robert Ludlum. Ludlum is quite well known for The Bourne series of books which feature the popular spy Jason Bourne.
The 1982 book focuses on jockeying between U.S. and Soviet intelligence agents, with American spies Michael Havelock and Jenna Karas, who are partners as well as lovers, at the center of a series of crosses and double crosses. A flashback to a Nazi attack during World War II serves as a linchpin of the story.
The action in Mosaic jumps between countries such as Italy, Greece and the former Czechoslovakia. The novel is regarded as perhaps the most Cold War-centric of Ludlum’s work.
“Bourne 4″ Moving Ahead With Nolfi Penning
Universal is moving forward with a fourth Jason Bourne movie, tentatively titled “Bourne 4“. The Bourne Ultimatum writer George Nolfi has been hired to pen the sequel. Nolfi’s other credits include The Sentinel, Ocean’s Twelve and Timeline.
Director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon are attached to the new film. The film will be produced by Frank Marshall and executive produced by Jeffrey Weiner and Henry Morrison.
This Bourne movie may still however, end up being significantly different from the others. The first three movies were loosely based on a series of books by Robert Ludlum. There is a fourth book, but it wasn’t written by Ludlum and back in June, producer Frank Marshall indicated they’d ignore the fourth book and go their own direction with the series. At the time, he hinted that Bourne may be skipping out on his European locales for a trip to South America, and if previous talk turns out to be true, they should start shooting it this coming summer.
The first three films have brought in a combined total of $524 million at the domestic box-office.
Warner Bros’ “Watchmen” in Serious Legal Trouble
A judge has denied a Warner Bros motion to dismiss 20th Century Fox’s lawsuit over Warners’ right to make a film based on the graphic novel “Watchmen.”
The ruling is a huge victory for Fox, which may end up as being a profit participant in the film. Fox retained the rights to the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, which the studio originally purchased in 1991. When producer David Gordon picked up the option on the project out of turnaround in 1994, the judge ruled, he never excersised that option for Fox’s remaining interest in the film, therefore, Fox’s rights to the film should still be intact.
Project, which has been in development for two decades, finally began lensing in September with Zack Snyder at the helm. Warners was set to release the film, which stars Patrick Wilson and Jackie Earle Haley, on March 6th in the same slot in which “300” opened. Continue Reading…
