Guy Ritchie helms a new action-packed adventure, following the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Law), as they match wits with their arch-nemesis, the criminal genius Moriarty (Harris).

Studio Warner Bros already planning a third film and have hired a screenwriter, two months before the second of Guy Ritchie‘s movies is released. After the success of the first film, and the heavy buzz about a sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, it’s not exactly a shock to hear it. At Warners they are already assured they have the formula to repeat the success.

Equally as intellect as Sherlock, Moriarty has an advantage over the renowned detective for his capacity for evil and complete lack of conscience. Still, Sherlock gets new helps in the form of his older brother Mycroft Holmes and a gypsy woman named Sim.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is an adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel. Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson join forces to outwit and bring down their fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty. Robert Downey Jr. is paying Sherlock Holmes, while Jude Law and Jared Harris (late of television’s Mad Men) appear as Dr. John Watson and Dr. Moriarty, Holmes’ nemesis respectively. Rachel McAdams is gone, replaced as love interest by Swedish actress Noomi Rapace.

Two character posters from Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (aka Sherlock Holmes 2) have been outed by Warner Bros.
A sequel to 2009′s Sherlock Holmes has director Guy Ritchie serving behind the lens once again. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return as Sherlock and Watson respectively with Hollywood beauty Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Eddie Marsan, Jared Harris and Stephen Fry (V for Vendetta) also in the cast ensemble.
