Adam McKay’s comedy The Other Guys has a lot going for it: Even though it mines perennial cop-buddy-movie material, it doesn’t feel generic or strained, and unlike other recent comedies — Dinner for Schmucks pops to mind — it never descends into grating self-consciousness. A new four-minute clip for Columbia Pictures’ new comedy The Other Guys has just been released.

Directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers), the movie follows NYPD Detectives Hoitz and Gamble (Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell) as they attempt to rise from anonymity by tackling a case that no one else wants. Desk jockeys unaccustomed to working together, Hoitz and Gamble end up butting heads with each other — and with their precinct’s resident super cops, Detectives Highsmith and Danson (Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson)— along the way.

Columbia Pictures has released the first TV spot new cop comedy The Other Guys starring Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton.

Set in New York City, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Ferrell), a forensic accountant who’s more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city’s top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Johnson and L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don’t quite go as planned.

Columbia Pictures has  debuted the first teaser trailer for The Other Guys, an action cop comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as a pair of misfit cops.

“The Other Guys” Begins Filming

Principal photography begins today on Columbia Pictures’ action-comedy “The Other Guys,” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The film is directed by Adam McKay (Step Brothers, The Procedure, The Landlord) and written by Adam McKay & Chris Henchy(Land of the Lost). The film is a co-production between Gary Sanchez Productions and Mosaic. Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Miller, and Patrick Crowley produce. David Householter, Chris Henchy and Kevin Messick are the Executive Producers. Jessica Elbaum and Josh Church serve as Co-Producers.
