The Master-Image One of the big movies for next year's Oscars, P.T. Anderson‘s The Master arrives in just under three weeks, and gets its final domestic theatrical trailer. With a number of festival premieres ahead Anderson's highly anticipated drama will first make stops at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival before its wide release. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Joaquin Phoenix this trailer features Phoenix's intense hand-rapping as Hoffman's Lancaster Dodd, a charismatic leader who establishes a new religion in the 1950s, gives a memorable speech that begins: ‘Man is not an animal.' Both written and directed by Anderson, hitting limited theaters on September 14th and expanding nationwide on September 21st, 2012, the film also stars Laura Dern, Lena Endre, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Rami Malek and Joshua Close. After returning from the Second World War, having witnessed many horrors, a charismatic intellectual creates a faith based organization in an attempt to provide meaning to his life. He becomes known as “The Master”. His right-hand man, a former drifter, begins to question both the belief system and The Master as the organization grows and gains a fervent following.
