Jeremy Renner And Julianne Moore In Al Pacino Comedy IMAGINE

Jeremy Renner has replaced the increasingly busy Steve Carell in the directorial debut of Dan Fogelman, who also provided the screenplay for the dramatic comedy, Imagine. Renner is now set to star as the son along with Julliane Moore and Al Pacino in the film that would see Pacino's character, an aging rock star, discovering that he has an adult son after reading a never-opened letter from John Lennon. The musician cleans up his act, and moves into a New Jersey hotel, when he strikes up the friendship of the owner of a small hotel (Moore). Fogelman who originally sold the script for $3 million to Warner Bros said in a statement about the project:

Every writer has ‘that one project' … the one they feel so strongly about that they can't bear to turn it over to anyone else. For me, that project is Imagine. It was a career highlight simply to get a script of mine into Al Pacino's hands. To have him read it, and then want to star in it… it's five steps past career highlight. And now, to have Julianne Moore and Jeremy join the fray… it's beyond my wildest dreams. I've been hiding in my house for the past few weeks… out of fear that someone would pinch me. We are going to make a very special film here.

His latest screenwriting work, The Guilt Trip, will hit theaters this December. Pacino is also playing rocker role in David Mamet's HBO biopic of legendary music producer Phil Spector, which is still waiting for premiere. Imagine production is scheduled to begin the following spring.
