Luke Evans has joined the cast of the BBC upcoming serial titled Great Train Robbery!
What definitely sounds great about this project is that it's the first installment of a two-part drama, and that Evans comes on board to play Bruce Reynolds, the mastermind behind Britain's infamous 1963 heist. Sounds like a perfect role for Immortals star, don't you think?
But it's not all about Evans! The rest of the cast also includes Jack Roth, Neil Maskell, Paul Anderson, Martin Compston, Del Synnott and Jack Gordon who are all set to star as the thief's accomplices.
At this moment we know that Julian Jarrold is on board to direct the first part, The Robbers' Tale, while James Strong is already hired to direct part two aka A Coppers' Tale.
The first film is set in 1962 and ends in the immediate aftermath of the August 8, 1963 robbery of a Royal Mail train from Glasgow that scored £2.6M.
Evans' character, Bruce Reynolds, who spent five years on the run before being jailed until 1978, died last month in London.
As for the second film – A Copper's Tale it will revolve around a detective Tommy Butler and the crack team of policemen he assembled in his quest to bring the crooks to justice.
