J.K. Simmons to Provide the Voice-Over for Jason Reitman’s Young Adult

J.K. Simmons to Provide the Voice-Over for Jason Reitman's Young Adult

Rejoining the casting for Jason Reitman‘s upcoming Diablo Cody-scribed twisted dramedy Young Adult, J.K. Simmons is set to provide his extending vocal range for narration. A rough rasping-voiced actor may not be bring back to life his J. Jonah Jameson role in The Amazing Spider-Man, but that doesn't mean he's not keep driving.

Some actors and directors just like working together such as John Ratzenberger, who gives voice to everything Pixar makes, and Bruce Campbell, who appeared in many of Sam Raimi's movies. The winning combo on that list is writer/director Jason Reitman and J.K. Simmons, who have joined forces on Thank You for Smoking, Juno and Up in the Air, which all went onto great acclaim.

Young Adult, Reitman's second film directed from a Cody script after the Oscar-nominated Juno, stars Charlize Theron as Mavis Gary, a fiction writer who, following her divorce, returns to her Midwest hometown to try to make her life out. In spite of this, she tries to reconnect with her ex-boyfriend Buddy Slade (Patrick Wilson), now a married man with a family, who doesn't welcome her romantic offers. Patton Oswalt is playing a semi-disabled old high school associate who befriends the narcissistic and erroneous female.

Not unlike True Grit with the Coen Brothers, you will not see me in Young Adult, but you will hear me. They asked me to do the voice-over when they were in post-production and then Jason asked me to do the voice-over in Young Adult, because at this point, I'm his good luck charm. I've been in every feature he's directed,”

Simmons told Comingsoon.

Next for Simmons is drama The Music Never Stops, as well as Mark Wahlberg's thriller Contraband. And he also came out in his wife Michelle Schumacher‘s directorial debut, a raunchy comedy Geezers!.

There's no word on when the film will see the US release, though we're interested to see what Reitman and co have done next.  Source: Comingsoon
