Allan Ford February 7, 2012 Add a Comment
ARTHUR CHRISTMAS The 3D, CG-animated family comedy Arthur Christmas, an Aardman production for Sony Pictures Animation, added a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Animated Feature to a growing list of accolades. The year's best reviewed animated movie now playing in wide release, Arthur Christmas also won a nomination from The Broadcast Film Critics Association for a Critics' Choice Award on Tuesday and was named Best Animated Feature by the San Diego Film Critics on Wednesday. This latest recognition follows nominations for 6 Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Writing, from ASIFA-Hollywood, announced on December 5. Since opening in the UK on November 11 and in North America on November 23, Arthur Christmas has earned tremendous critical acclaim, registering a solid 92% Fresh on the popular RottenTomatoes.com movie review website. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/arthur_christmas/
“I'm just delighted that the brilliant craftsmanship, hard work and dedication of the team who made ‘Arthur Christmas' has been honoured by these nominations. We hope the movie gives Christmas pleasure!”
said director and co-writer Sarah Smith when reached at her home in London. ARTHUR CHRISTMAS The 3D, CG-animated family comedy Arthur Christmas at last reveals the incredible, never-before-seen answer to every child's question: “So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?” The answer: Santa's exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the heart of the film is a story with the ingredients of a Christmas classic – a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero: Santa's youngest son, Arthur. When this amazing operation misses one child out of hundreds of millions, Arthur, the least capable Claus, embarks on a hilarious, exciting rogue mission against the clock with his politically incorrect grandfather Grandsanta and a giftwrapping-obsessed elf named Bryony, to deliver the last present before Christmas morning dawns. Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation present an Aardman production, Arthur Christmas. Starring the voice performances of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen. Directed by Sarah Smith. Produced by Peter Lord, David Sproxton, Carla Shelley, and Steve Pegram. Written by Peter Baynham & Sarah Smith. Co-Producer is Chris Juen. Co-Executive Producer is Peter Baynham. Co-Director is Barry Cook. Music by Harry Gregson-Williams.
