A PROMISE: First Poster And Images With Rebecca Hall & Richard Madden

Yet another romantic drama, but at least this drama has quite interesting cast on board! Rebecca Hall and Richard Madden will lead us through the pre-WWI-set tale (simply) titled A Promise, which comes from director Patrice Leconte and is set to play Out Of Competition at this year's Venice Film Festival. Leconte directed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Jérôme Tonnerre, which revolves around a married woman who falls in love with her husband's teacher. What's romantic about that? Separated by the war, they pledge their devotion to one another – apparently that's the answer. Or, if you prefer the official synopsis:

Germany, 1912. A youth of humble origins takes up a clerical post in a steel factory. Impressed by his work, the elderly owner takes him on as his private secretary and sets him up in his home. While there, the young man meets the owner's beautiful and reserved wife — and falls helplessly in love with her, unbeknownst to the couple. But just as his employer announces that he is sending him to oversee his mines in Mexico, the wife makes him a startling promise.
