Al Pacino Opened Third Rome Film Festival
Al Pacino opened Rome‘s third International Film Festival with his independent movie “Chinese Coffee.”
Pacino will also be given a Marcus Aurelius award for career achievement at the festival, which runs until October 31, 2008.
”I don't want to cancel the cultural initiatives of the past but I think we need to promote Italian films rather than Hollywood stars,” the Italian capital's new mayor Gianni Alemanno said.
So, “Pride And Glory,” featuring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, is the only US entry.
The festival's competitive section will feature six Italian films, five from France, and two movies from both Germany and Poland. Films from the UK, Ukraine, Portugal, Belgium, Russia and South Korea also feature.
